Job summary

UCAR's Research IT group seeks a customer‑facing IT specialist to support NCAR labs across Windows and Mac environments. The role emphasizes hands‑on facilitation, system maintenance, and troubleshooting, with a focus on enabling scientists and staff to conduct research efficiently.

The candidate will assist with AI onboarding for enterprise Claude and Gemini tools, build strong lab relationships, and produce accessible documentation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a computer-related field or equivalent combination of education and customer-facing IT experience.
• Strong customer service and communication skills.
• Experience supporting Windows and Mac workstation environments.

Responsibilities

• Serve as primary liaison for NCAR labs and employees, helping end users overcome IT obstacles.
• Assist in maintenance and optimization of Windows and Mac workstation environments; automate tasks with scripts.
• Provide minor AI onboarding assistance in Claude and Gemini environments.
• Create and maintain self-help guides, documentation, and knowledge bases.
• Attend internal NRIT meetings and represent NRIT in org-wide focus groups and committees.
