Job summary

PingWind is seeking a Systems Administrator to support our federal government-focused client in the Chicago, IL area. This on-site role requires the ability to obtain Tier 4 / High Risk Background Investigation and a Bachelor's degree in a technology-related field (or equivalent experience).

You will manage Linux and Windows servers, design new infrastructure, and maintain VM environments. The position offers occasional telework but requires onsite presence as needed and after-hours support may

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a technology-related field or equivalent work experience.
• 3+ years as a Systems Administrator in government or large enterprise environments.
• SME proficiency with Linux servers.
• Experience managing RedHat, CentOS, and Windows 2016 servers.
• Strong server virtualization and VM management knowledge.
• Experience with vulnerability management and patching.
• Familiarity with SSL certificates and Venafi.
• Excellent troubleshooting and communication skills.
• Willingness to provide after-hours support as required

Responsibilities

• Support for existing servers: install, configure, and optimize.
• Design and implement new servers as required.
• Manage a server environment consisting of Red Hat Linux, CentOS, and Windows 2016.
• Perform updates, upgrades, and patching of server systems per VA standards.
• Review vulnerability reports and ensure timely remediation.
• Engage vendor support for hardware issues.
• Implement changes in preproduction and production environments.
• Coordinate and complete updates, upgrades, and patching.
• Troubleshoot and resolve application issues.
• Work with software and database teams to ensure seamless functionality.
• Manage user access to servers and SSL certificate renewals.
• Address CPU, disk, memory, and performance issues; maintain VMs.
• Use ServiceNow to input and track all changes and work performed.
• May require limited after-hours support for maintenance or troubleshooting
