Job summary

DiSTI Corp. is hiring a Systems Administrator III to support and optimize our Linux infrastructure (RHEL/Ubuntu) onsite in Orlando. The role requires handling high-availability systems, scripting, and VMware administration, with exposure to Atlassian tools and backup solutions.

You will participate in a rotating on-call schedule, after-hours support, and weekend rotations as needed, ensuring security and reliability across IT services.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree or equivalent experience in CS/IS or related field.
  • 5+ years hands-on systems administration in Linux environments (RHEL/Ubuntu).
  • Strong Linux server management, troubleshooting, and performance tuning experience.
  • Proficient with configuration management/automation tools such as Ansible.
  • Scripting skills in Python and Bash.
  • VMware administration and backup system experience, preferably Veeam.
  • Experience managing Atlassian products (Jira/Confluence) and revision control systems (Gitlab/Subversion/PlasticSCM).
  • Storage management experience including SAN/NAS configuration and support.
  • Strong problem solving, communication, and documentation skills.
  • Willingness to work shift schedules including after-hours/weekends.

Responsibilities

This is an onsite role in our Orlando office.

Overall Responsibility

We are seeking an experienced Systems Administrator (Level 2/3) to join our IT Infrastructure team. This role is responsible for supporting, maintaining, and optimizing corporate and project systems, ensuring high availability and reliability. Our ideal candidate has deep expertise with RHEL and Ubuntu systems, strong troubleshooting skills, and experience supporting mission-critical environments. This position requires willingness to participate in a shift schedule, work after-hours, and occasionally weekends as operational needs dictate.

Key Areas of Responsibility
  • Provide advanced troubleshooting and technical support for outages, service level issues, and user support requests; resolve escalated incidents.
  • Monitor and analyze system metrics; implement performance optimization and develop capacity planning strategies.
  • Author and maintain detailed documentation for system hardware, software, and processes.
  • Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, and peripheral issues; research system documentation and knowledge bases to recommend solutions.
  • Track and document hardware and software changes within system infrastructure.
  • Develop criteria and participate in the selection and evaluation of vendor products, ensuring compatibility with corporate standards and guidelines.
  • Lead or serve as a technical SME on specialized projects, coordinating with other technical teams as required.
  • Maintain up-to-date technical expertise on all supported hardware and software technologies in the environment.
  • Administer and support Atlassian product suite (Jira, Confluence)
  • Administer and support revision control systems (Gitlab, Subversion, PlasticSCM).
  • Manage SAN/NAS devices for corporate and project storage needs.
  • Oversee backup operations using Veeam to ensure data protection and compliance objectives.
  • Participate in a rotating on-call schedule to provide 24/7 support coverage, including shift work, after-hours, and occasional weekend assignments.
  • Ensure compliance with IT security policies and best practices, including regular patching and vulnerability remediation.
  • Collaborate with DevOps, Networking, Security, and Development teams to deliver stable and scalable infrastructure.
Qualifications
Required:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a closely related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years of hands‑on experience as a systems administrator in a Linux environment (preferably RHEL and Ubuntu).
  • Demonstrated experience with Linux server management, troubleshooting, and performance tuning.
  • Proficient with configuration management and automation tools such as Ansible.
  • Scripting skills with Python and Bash.
  • VMware administration and support experience.
  • Experience with enterprise backup systems, preferably Veeam.
  • Experience managing Atlassian products (Jira, Confluence)
  • Experience managing revision control systems (such as Gitlab, Subversion, PlasticSCM).
  • Storage management experience, including SAN/NAS configuration and support.
  • Strong problem‑solving and analytical skills, with the ability to work independently and in a team.
  • Effective communication, documentation, and organizational skills.
  • Willingness and ability to work shift schedules and provide after‑hours/weekend support as needed.
Preferred:
  • Certifications: Security+, CompTIA Linux+, VMware VCP, or equivalent.
  • Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) or hybrid/cloud integrations.
  • Familiarity with network administration, TCP/IP troubleshooting, and security best practices.
  • Experience with monitoring solutions (Observium, Lansweeper, etc.).
  • Experience in agile environments or DevOps practices.

B.S. degree in Computer Science, related degree, or equivalent training and professional experience. 5 years experience in system administration including Linux, and VMware. Significant experience administering Linux servers including Python, Ansible scripting.

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to lift, rack, and install server and networking hardware as needed.
  • Participation in a rotating on-call support schedule.
  • Ability to respond to critical outages after‑hours and on weekends.
