Job summary

Bering-Alaka`ina Holding, LLC seeks a Systems Administrator II, Windows (Part-Time) to maintain Windows Server environments across Navy networks at PMRF in Kekaha, Hawai'i. You will apply RMF/NIST controls, manage AD/DNS/DHCP/GPO, and support patching, hardening, and security tooling.

Qualifications

Job description

Bering-Alaka`ina Holding, LLC is looking for a Systems Administrator II, Windows (Part-Time). The position will be located at the Pacific Missile Range Facility (PMRF), Kekaha, Hawai'i.

Provide intermediate-to-advanced level Microsoft infrastructure support for U.S. Navy operations within a Department of War (DoW) environment. This role involves comprehensive system administration, applying Risk Management Framework (RMF) and National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) controls, and serving as an escalation point for complex technical issues on both classified and unclassified networks.

DESCRIPTION OF RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Administer, maintain, and troubleshoot Microsoft Windows Server environments across classified and unclassified Navy networks.
• Manage and configure Active Directory, Domain Name System (DNS), Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP), and Group Policy Objects (GPOs).
• Ensure system compliance with Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) Security Technical Implementation Guide (STIG)s and DoW cybersecurity policies, executing remediation tasks as needed.
• Execute patch management processes and deploy updates across Microsoft systems utilizing automated tools (e.g., Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager MECM).
• Perform system hardening and vulnerability remediation leveraging tools such as Assured Compliance Assessment Solution (ACAS), Endpoint Security Solution (ESS), and Security Content Automation Protocol (SCAP).
• Utilize and modify PowerShell scripts to automate routine administrative tasks.
• Manage and support virtualization platforms, primarily VMware and Hyper‑V.
• Assist cybersecurity teams in generating and maintaining documentation for Authority to Operate (ATO) packages and Plan of Action and Milestones. (POAM).
• Serve as an escalation point for junior IT staff, providing technical guidance and troubleshooting support.
• Participate in Change Control Boards (CCBs) to review and implement system changes.
• Support backup, disaster recovery, and incident response efforts.
• General office environment with site visits as well as periodic "at sea" duty to support the PMRF's Mobile at Sea Sensor system (MATSS)
• Candidate must be capable of working in a team environment and participate in technical and system administrative activities throughout project life cycles.
• Perform other duties as assigned

Office conditions are varied and include physical tasks including lifting, pushing or pulling over 50 pounds (with a 2-person assist). Physical positions will include but not be limited to walking, standing or sitting for extended periods of time, and crawling, kneeling or cramped work, requiring repeated stooping. The environment will include customer contact, extended workdays, in a confined office laboratory work area, field assignments, sometimes in inclement weather.

REQUIRED DEGREE/EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION:

• A.S. Degree (High School Diploma with four (4) years of directly related Window system administration experience may be substituted for an A.S. degree.)
• Advance certifications may be substituted for a degree or experience.
• Years of directly related work experience may be substituted for a degree.
• DoW, or local policy requirements
• DOD 8570.1M IAT Level II required prior to start
• One of the following OS Certifications required within prior to start (subject to change based on industry, DoD or local policy requirements)
• Linux+ or Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA)
• Microsoft System Administrator certificate (AZ-800 & AZ-801 exams)

REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

• Two (2) years of specialized Window system administration required.
• Knowledge of IT systems and advance IT infrastructure concepts
• Must be proficient in operating personal computers, computer software and standard office equipment
• Must have basic keyboarding skills and aptitude for neatness and accuracy in sorting
• Critical thinking - Proven problem solver

• VMware/Nutanix certification
• Knowledge/Administration of Trellix, LogRhythm, and MDE

DESIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

Advance knowledge and certification in both Windows Server and RHEL is considered highly desired

REQUIRED CITIZENSHIP AND CLEARANCE:

• Must be a U.S. Citizen
• Top Secret security clearance is required with T5 or equivalent (SSBI) investigation level. (Applicants selected either must currently possess a Secret clearance or will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements to obtain clearance prior to commencement of employment and maintain a security clearance for access to classified information or Closed/Restricted Areas throughout duration of employment.)

COMPENSATION DETAILS:

• $35.26 per hour
• The compensation range or hourly rate provided is a good faith estimate at the time of posting. Final compensation will be determined based on qualifications, experience, skills, internal equity, market conditions, and applicable laws.
