Job summary

SAIC is seeking a Senior Systems Administrator II – Desktop Support to join the MAJESTIC JPO Team in Springfield, VA, supporting an on-premises enterprise IT environment. This role focuses on desktop maintenance of mission-critical systems and infrastructure across Windows Server, RHEL, and Nutanix platforms.

The successful candidate will perform on-site administration, patching, scripting, AD management, and monitoring with Nagios, Splunk, SolarWinds, and Grafana.

Qualifications

• High School diploma/GED.
• Bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, IT, or related field.
• 3-6 years of professional experience managing and supporting enterprise IT environments.
• Certifications: CWF ID 451 or equivalent (CompTIA Cloud+, CompTIA Security+, GICSP, GSEC, SSCP) or RHCSA/RHCE, VMware, Nutanix, ITIL v4.
• Experience with Windows Server admin (AD, DNS, GPO), RHEL, virtualization (VMware/Hyper-V).

Responsibilities

• Perform day-to-day system administration for Windows Server and RHEL systems.
• Monitor performance and ensure security/compliance of enterprise infrastructure.
• Manage patching across Windows and Linux with WSUS, SCCM, and Ansible.
• Write and maintain scripts (PowerShell, Bash, Python) to automate tasks.
• Administer Active Directory and cross-platform integration with RHEL.
• Monitor systems with Nagios, Splunk, SolarWinds, Grafana.
• Collaborate to integrate Windows, Linux, Nutanix environments.
• Document diagrams, SOPs, and recovery procedures.

This individual will providedesktopmaintenance of mission-criticalsystems and infrastructure, includingWindows Servers,Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL),and Nutanix hyper-converged platform solutions.

The successful candidate will serve as a member of a dynamic team responsible for ensuring the performance, reliability, and security of a large-scale enterprise IT environment.TheSystemsAdministrator II–Desktop Supportwillbe responsible fordesktopadministration, patch management, system troubleshooting, and the implementation of new capabilities to meet operational and mission requirements. This role requires direct on-site support in theSpringfield, VAlocation.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform day-to-day system administration tasks to ensure the availability, security, and performance of critical enterprise Windows Server and RHEL systems
• Monitor system performance andmaintainenterprise infrastructure for compliance with security and reliability requirements
• Manage patching across Windows and Linux servers using tools like WSUS, Microsoft SCCM, and Ansible
• Write andmaintainscripting solutions (e.g., PowerShell, Bash, or Python) to automate repetitive administrative tasks and improve operational efficiency
• Implement and administer Active Directory (AD), including group policies, user administration, and cross-platform integration with RHEL
• Leverage monitoring tools such as Nagios, Splunk, SolarWinds, and Grafana tomonitorhealth and resolve issues proactively
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure proper integration of Windows, Linux, and Nutanix environments into overall enterprise infrastructure
• Analyze and troubleshoot system performance or configuration issues and implement long-term solutions to systemic challenges
• Maintain detailed technical documentation, including system diagrams, SOPs, and recovery procedures
• Provide technical support for application teamsleveragingWindows Servers, RHEL systems, and Nutanix, ensuring seamless operations
• Assistwith evaluating and implementing new infrastructure technologies, tools, and processes to drive continuous improvement

• Candidates must satisfy Cybersecurity Workforce Framework (CWF) ID 451 (System Administrator – Intermediate Level) requirements, as outlined by Navy COOL This requirement can be met bypossessingone or more of the following qualifying certifications:

• CompTIA Security+
• GIAC Global Industrial Cyber Security Professional (GICSP)
• GIAC Security Essentials Certification (GSEC)
• Systems Security Certified Practitioner (SSCP)

ORThis requirement can be met through

Experience

Technical Skills

• Expertisein Windows Server administration, including Active Directory, DNS, and group policy management
• Strong knowledge of Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL), including configuration, management, troubleshooting, and security hardening
• Comprehensive understanding of enterprise virtualized environments (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V) and managing VMs in multi-hypervisor architectures
• Experience with backup and recovery solutions, clustering, and high availability (HA) architectures
• Proficiencyin scripting and automation using tools like PowerShell, Bash, or Python to streamline operations
• Expertisein system performance monitoring and troubleshooting tools (e.g., Splunk, Nagios, SolarWinds, or Grafana) for diagnostics and proactive issue resolution
• Hands-on experience with network services (e.g., DHCP, TCP/IP, load balancing, and VLAN configurations)
• Strong understanding of security and compliance standards, including RMF, NIST 800-53, and DoD 8510.01, for ensuring infrastructure meets operational requirements
