About Chainalysis Government Solutions

Chainalysis Government Solutions (CGS) is a wholly-owned Chainalysis subsidiary that provides blockchain intelligence solutions, including technology, training, and services to law enforcement, defense, intelligence, and regulatory customers across the U.S. Government.

Blockchain technology is powering a growing wave of innovation. Businesses and governments around the world are using blockchains to make banking more efficient, connect with their customers, investigate criminal cases, and track transnational threats. As the adoption of blockchain technology grows, more and more organizations seek access to all this ecosystem has to offer. That’s where Chainalysis comes in. We provide complete knowledge of what’s happening on blockchains through our data, services, and solutions. With Chainalysis, organizations can navigate blockchains safely and with confidence.

About the Role

CGS is seeking a Systems Administrator — Government Deployments to operate, maintain, secure, and optimize Chainalysis technology within classified U.S. Intelligence Community environments. Serving as the hands-on systems administration authority for production environments supporting mission users, you will ensure deployed capabilities remain available, secure, performant, and compliant throughout their operational lifecycle.

In this role, you will work closely with customer system owners, technical stakeholders, and internal CGS teams (Technical Product, Forward-Deployed Engineering, Solution Architecture, Security, Product, and Engineering). You will focus on the sustainment and administration of approved production architectures rather than establishing new deployment architectures.

Please note: This position requires you to work physically on-site with customers in the Washington, D.C. Metropolitan Area up to five days per week.

In this role, you’ll:
  • Systems Administration & Production Operations: Install, configure, administer, maintain, and optimize Linux and Windows operating systems within C2S/AWS and approved government environments. Provision IaaS components (EC2, VPC, RDS, S3) and maintain web/application infrastructure (Apache, WSGI, PostgreSQL, WebLogic, VMware, OpenShift).

  • System Maintenance & Release Management: Lead upgrades, patching, configuration changes, and software release deployments within established architectures. Validate system prerequisites, coordinate maintenance windows, execute change procedures, and conduct post-deployment verification.

  • Security, Hardening & Compliance: Maintain systems in accordance with customer security requirements, Risk Management Framework (RMF), and Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs). Remediate vulnerabilities, configure security controls (firewalls, IDS/IPS, endpoint protection), and support security authorization audits.

  • Network & Integration Engineering: Configure, test, and troubleshoot TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN, VLAN, firewall rules, and network monitoring concepts to enable authorized data transfer between Chainalysis environments and customer systems.

  • Backup, Recovery & Operational Resilience: Implement and maintain backup and recovery procedures, execute disaster recovery testing, validate data integrity, and identify single points of failure across deployed infrastructure.

  • Customer & Cross-Functional Collaboration: Serve as a trusted technical partner to customer system owners and mission users. Provide technical support, develop runbooks and standard operating procedures (SOPs), and route recurring field observations to internal CGS Product and Engineering teams.

Role Boundaries & Ownership
  • Systems Administrator (This Role): Owns production systems administration, sustainment, operational health, system configuration, maintenance, security hardening, and infrastructure troubleshooting within assigned customer environments.

  • Forward-Deployed Administrator: Owns execution and deployment implementation for new capabilities and major architectural updates before handing off sustainment to the Systems Administrator.

  • Technical Product Manager & Architecture: Owns technical product requirements, reference architectures, and environment compatibility standards.

We’re looking for candidates who have:
  • Active TS/SCI Clearance with Full-Scope Polygraph required at start.

  • U.S. citizenship required (position is not eligible for visa sponsorship).

  • 5+ years of experience in systems administration or technical delivery within classified U.S. Government or Intelligence Community environments.

  • Hands-on experience with C2S/AWS and core cloud services (EC2, VPC, ELB, RDS, S3, EBS).

  • Strong Linux and Windows system administration background, including managing web infrastructure (Apache, WSGI, PostgreSQL).

  • Proven security engineering experience, including hardening systems and remediating vulnerabilities in accordance with RMF and STIG requirements.

  • Solid network engineering foundation, including experience with TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPNs, VLANs, firewalls, and security software (IDS/IPS, anti-virus, endpoint protection).

  • Virtualization expertise with technologies such as VMware, Hyper-V, or KVM.

  • Strong written documentation and troubleshooting skills, with an ownership mindset and an ability to operate independently within secure customer facilities.

Stands Out:
  • AWS Certifications (e.g., AWS Certified SysOps Administrator, DevOps Engineer).

  • Proficiency with automation and scripting languages, specifically Python and Bash/Unix shell scripting.

  • Experience with OpenShift 4, enterprise VMware, or containerized application environments.

  • Knowledge of PL/SQL, database administration, Oracle Fusion Middleware, or WebLogic 12c.

  • Exposure to API services, government data platforms (DPaaS), or CI/CD deployment pipelines.

  • Prior experience deploying and sustaining software in air-gapped, classified, or disconnected environments.

  • Familiarity with blockchain technology, cryptocurrency analytics, or intelligence applications.
