Job Title

Systems Accessibility Analyst

This role will be the certified digital accessibility evaluator for the College of Education and Human Ecology. The person occupying the role must effectively evaluate websites, software and instructional content for compliance as required by the Americans with Disabilities Act. The occupant will also collate instructional resources to benefit content creators in the college as they build digitally accessibly instructional and operational content. This Term position will work with web technologies, including HTML5 and CSS3, along with several content management system technologies. The Systems Accessibility Analyst is responsible for ensuring that the university's digital content, including public websites, instructional materials, and vendor products, complies with accessibility standards. This role involves evaluating digital content, collaborating on process improvements, and assisting with website maintenance and development. Other duties as assigned. The analyst will use standard university and industry tools to evaluate public web sites managed by the college as well as third-party vendor software and will evaluate new services before the college approves purchase and implementation. Tests range from basic "quick-tests" to full digital accessibility evaluations required for services delivered to the students and community members. Vendor engagement may also include capturing necessary terms and conditions, vendor accessibility documentation (VPATS, etc.) and general IT security responses to aid vendor evaluation and software pre-approval processes. This position is hybrid role with some remote work plus on-premises team meetings as needed. Occasional travel may be required for training and professional development.

Required Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • At least 2 years of relevant experience in digital accessibility or a related field.
  • Proficient understanding of web markup, including HTML5 and CSS3.
  • Experience with content management systems (CMS) such as WordPress and Drupal.
  • Familiarity with accessibility standards and guidelines (e.g., WCAG, ADA).
  • Ability to complete university Web Accessibility Certified Tester program (OSU's certification that prepares accessibility specialists and web developers to perform thorough and comprehensive full manual accessibility evaluations of websites and web applications)
Desired Experience
  • 2-4 years of relevant experience in digital accessibility.
  • Technical IAAP certification: Web Accessibility Specialist (WAS), Certified Professional in Web Accessibility (CPWA) or Accessible Document Specialist (ADS).
  • Experience with learning management systems (LMS) such as Canvas.
  • Understanding and experience with UI/UX design principles.
  • Knowledge of version control software (e.g., Git).
  • Experience with REST API, JSON, Node.js, Angular, Shell Script, and MySQL.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently on multiple projects.
70% Evaluation and Reporting
  • Evaluate public websites, new instructional content, and vendor products for digital accessibility compliance.
  • Provide detailed reports on compliance levels and areas for improvement as one of the College's Accessibility Coordinators
  • Make remediation recommendations and track progress.
20% Collaborative Work
  • Participate in committees to improve university processes related to digital accessibility.
  • Develop job aids and educational materials for faculty and staff.
  • Conduct training sessions and workshops on digital accessibility best practices.
10% Website Maintenance and Development
  • Assist with the maintenance and development of the College's websites.
  • Ensure that web content meets accessibility standards.
  • Collaborate with the web team to implement accessibility features.

Target Hiring Range for this position is $70,100 - $91,600
