Job summary

AVONDALE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL DISTRICT is seeking a System Support Technician I to support and maintain district hardware and software across school sites. You will install, configure, and troubleshoot computers, printers, projectors and interactive boards to ensure reliable classroom technology.

The role requires strong communication, the ability to explain tech concepts to users, and the physical capacity to lift up to 40 pounds.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Arizona IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card.
  • Two years experience with Macintosh computers in a networked environment.
  • One year experience with networked and stand-alone printers, LCD-projectors, interactive whiteboards and other classroom tech.
  • Two years experience with configuration and troubleshooting Mac OS X applications.
  • Effective communication skills to explain technology to users.
  • Ability to lift and carry 40 pounds.

Responsibilities

  • Installs, configures and maintains end-user technology at school sites.
  • Transports, sets up, and installs computers and peripherals (printers, scanners, cameras, etc.).
  • Performs basic troubleshooting with server connections and server-based software.
  • Maintains hardware inventory and reports findings.
  • Performs preventative maintenance on user equipment (e.g., projector filters, firmware updates).
  • Coordinates repairs with colleagues and vendors.
  • Assists site tech coordinators with technology problems.
  • Reports district-approved software usage and violations.
  • Provides demonstrations of technology to end-users.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

I. General Description

To support the use and integration of hardware and software through the setup, maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and implementation of the district's technology systems.

II. Qualifications
  • Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Must possess a valid AZ IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card
  • Must have two years experience working with Macintosh computers in a networked environment.
  • Must have one years experience working with networked and stand-alone printers, LCD-projectors, interactive whiteboards and other peripheral technology used in district classrooms.
  • Must have two years experience with configuration and troubleshooting application software on Mac OS X computers.
  • Must possess effective communication skills, including the ability to explain technology to users.
  • Must be able to lift and carry 40 pounds.
III. Duties And Responsibilities
  • Installs, configures and maintains end-user technology equipment at school sites.
  • Transports, sets up, and installs computers and peripherals (printers, scanners, cameras, etc.)
  • Performs basic troubleshooting practices in dealing with computer problems and connections to servers and server-based software.
  • Performs hardware inventory annually or as needed and reports findings to System Support Technician II.
  • Performs all preventative maintenance on all user equipment, i.e. cleans projector air filters, firmware upgrades on printers/computers.
  • Coordinates repairs with System Support Specialist II and vendors.
  • Assists site tech coordinators with technology problems that may arise.
  • Is aware of district-approved software and reports violations.
  • Provides assistance and demonstrations of technology to end-users.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Reports To: Technology Director

Calendar: 12 Months; 40hrs/week
