This position is located on Kwajalein Atoll in the Marshall Islands. It is an unaccompanied position (no family accommodations or pets). Benefits include free housing, three meals a day, and potential overseas tax incentives.
Essential Functions
- Work primarily with software and systems on land and sea-based Flight Safety systems located in the Marshall Islands and aboard the USAV Worthy. Systems include processing and display computers, networks, telemetry, communications, and transmitters.
- Develop and maintain software configurations used in mission operations.
- Become the subject matter expert on Safety System software functionality, based on the Common Display System, and Telemetry decommutation, particularly using the NetAcquire H30.
- Operate, configure, troubleshoot, and document the systems for mission support, including post-mission analysis and documentation.
- Support mission operations on Kwajalein Atoll or aboard the USAV Worthy; travel to Hawaii and CONUS if needed.
- Participate in or lead troubleshooting efforts, fault detection, fault isolation, repair, testing, and reporting, including efforts to prevent reoccurrence.
- Propose, plan, manage, and execute improvement projects, interfacing with government, vendors, cyber, information services, telemetry, communications, supply chain, and contracts. Complete reports as needed.
- Author and contribute to mission preparation and execution documentation, interfacing directly with Reagan Test Site (RTS) customers.
- Oversee other tasks related to property, calibration, secure room, facilities, and COMSEC.
- Support RF Safety activities, including surveys, analysis, and incident investigation.
- Other duties as assigned.
Required Skills
- Ability to lead or participate in capturing, defining, and evaluating technical requirements.
- Strong analytical skills.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel) and Microsoft Project.
- Motivated, with the ability to identify issues and improvement opportunities, champion plans of action, and influence others.
- Experience dealing with ambiguity and competing interests.
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects concurrently.
- Ability to perform activities on towers and elevated structures up to 90' using proper PPE.
- Familiarity with routed and switched IP networking is desired.
- Ability to work at sea on the USAV Worthy for multi-week stretches.
Required Experience
- Bachelor's of Science in engineering or related technical STEM major.
- Zero or more years of military, technical, or post-university work experience.
- Desired experience includes:
- Technical leadership on projects, teams, or staff.
- Experience with safety-oriented systems or products.
- Exposure to requirements capture and development tools (Jira, Gitlab, DOORs, SharePoint).
- Experience with Six Sigma, FMEA, FMECA, FHA, CMMI, INCOSI, or related practices.
- Software development experience.
- Certifications such as PMP, Security+, Network+, CCENT, CCNA are desired.
- Experience with military systems like avionics, communications, radars, and electro-mechanical controls is desired.
Additional Eligibility Qualifications
- Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD secret security clearance (U.S. Citizenship required).
- Must be able to relocate to Kwajalein Atoll, Marshall Islands.
- Must obtain and maintain a U.S. passport and USAG-KA driver's license.
- Flexibility to work occasional non-duty hours or weekends.
- This position is unaccompanied.
