Job summary

Autonomous Solutions Inc is seeking a System Software Engineer III on the Commercial Landscaping Team. You will bridge firmware and higher-level robot software, maintain the OS and foundational software, and write lower-level abstractions enabling the rest of the codebase.

The role requires hands-on verification on-bot and collaboration with firmware, perception, and applications engineers. The stack is primarily Rust with some C++ and Python, and you will work closely with hardware and cloud

Qualifications

• 5+ years of production code experience in at least one compiled language (Rust, C++, Go, Java, or C).
• Experience building and maintaining large, complex software systems.
• Experience operating and maintaining a complex Linux system in production.
• Ability to debug large, multi-threaded, multi-disciplinary software systems.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and evolve the robot OS (Ubuntu and Yocto) and system-level tools.
• Write and maintain software in Rust, Python, and C++ across the stack.
• Bridge firmware and higher-level software, translating between layers.
• Build tools to improve fleet observability, stability, and performance at scale.
• Verify changes directly on-bot and assist other engineering teams in the field.
• Debug complex, multi-threaded issues across firmware, perception, and application layers.
• Collaborate daily with firmware, perception, and applications engineers on shared systems.
• Learn new tools and technologies as the robot platform and fleet grow.
