Job summary

Bastion Technologies, Inc. is seeking a System Safety Engineer - Vehicle Integration for the Safety and Mission Assurances Support Services (SMASS) at the Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville, Alabama.

You will support SLS program integration by identifying hazards across vehicle interfaces, performing risk analysis, and developing SSARs, hazard reports, and verification evidence to ensure safety compliance and flight readiness.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field.
• 5+ years of recent and related work experience in system safety engineering for complex systems.
• Experience performing system safety hazard analyses and documenting results (SSARs, hazard reports).
• Experience applying system safety/reliability methods like FTA, FFA, FMEA.
• Experience safety verification planning and closure, tracking evidence and hazard controls.
• Experience with change packages, waivers/deviations, and updating hazard analyses.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite to develop deliverables and briefings.

Responsibilities

• Provide system safety engineering support for SLS program integration and vehicle interfaces.
• Classify risks by severity and likelihood; present results to SMA management and risk authorities.
• Prepare and assess System Safety Program Plans for safety compliance.
• Review program documentation to ensure safety requirements are addressed.
• Participate in trade studies to ensure safety requirements and hazard mitigation.
• Develop and maintain hazard analyses, hazard reports, and verification evidence.
