Job summary

The candidate will mentor junior staff, manage safety tasks, and ensure compliance with MIL-STD-882 and related guidelines, travel up to 25% is required, with a secret clearance preferred or required.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience in system safety, including implementing and executing DoW system safety programs.
• Experience obtaining lithium battery certifications.
• Experience in MIL-STD-882 safety analyses or system safety program implementation.
• Ability to analyze, research, assess, and organize technical data into cohesive and clear technical reports and presentations.
• Ability to organize, schedule, and facilitate technical meetings and working groups.
• Ability to travel up to 25% of the time.
• Secret clearance required.
• Bachelor's degree in an Engineering or Science field.

Responsibilities

• Support senior-level DoW and service personnel with system safety implementation and oversight for DoW system programs
• Apply scientific and engineering principles, criteria, and techniques to identify and assess system safety hazards
• Inform implementation of mitigations to reduce warfighter risk
• Execute comprehensive system safety programs or individual tasks on weapon systems, unmanned systems, ground-based missile systems, surface vessel and support systems, or laser systems
• Develop and review System Safety Program Plans (SSPP)
• Conduct Preliminary Hazard Analysis (PHA), Subsystem Hazard Analysis (SSHA), System Hazard Analysis (SHA), Operating and Support Hazard Analysis (O&SHA), Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) analysis, Safety Assessment Reports (SAR), and test report evaluations
• Analyze data and develop written deliverables
• Assist with presentation of results
• Review client system safety artifacts for compliance with requirements, policy, and guidance documents
• Conduct tasks following established plans and quality standards
• Improve processes and advance the discipline of system safety
• Lead and manage junior staff executing safety tasks
• Mentor junior staff to increase their expertise and capabilities
