Job summary

Independent Software in Anchorage, Alaska is seeking a System Engineer Level 2 to support the design, administration, maintenance, and optimization of computer systems in a mission-focused environment.

You will work across system architecture, hardware, software, networking, and operational support to ensure systems remain reliable, secure, and performing effectively, while troubleshooting, installing, upgrading, and guiding less-experienced staff.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree plus fourteen (14) years of qualifying IT-related experience; or
High School Diploma or GED plus nineteen (19) years of qualifying IT-related experience.
Active TS SCI with Polygraph is required.

Responsibilities

Design and define system architectures for new and existing computer systems.
Configure, maintain, and support computer systems, hardware, software, and network components.
Troubleshoot hardware, software, and network issues.
Install and upgrade operating systems and layered software packages.
Monitor, tune, and optimize systems for performance and reliability.
Maintain workstation and server data integrity using established hardware and software solutions.
Support system backups, database archive operations, and data recoverability.
Conduct hardware and software audits to ensure compliance with established standards and configuration guidelines.
Provide technical support and training to end users.
Provide guidance to less-experienced technical personnel as needed.
