Job summary

SoTalent is seeking an experienced Senior Mainframe CICS Systems Programmer to lead end-to-end CICS management on z/OS. You will optimize high-volume transaction processing, install/upgrade, and drive performance tuning while collaborating with developers and other systems programmers to ensure availability and security.

Responsibilities include integrating CICS with DB2, MQ, and z/OS Connect, managing RACF security, and mentoring junior staff.

• At least 6 years of infrastructure experience with a heavy focus on mainframe environments.

The client operates a hybrid work model requiring 4 days per week in the office. Candidates can be based in San Antonio, TX, Plano, TX, Charlotte, NC, Phoenix, AZ, or Tampa, FL. Relocation assistance is available for qualified individuals.

A premier financial services organization dedicated to supporting the military community is looking for an experienced Senior Mainframe CICS Systems Programmer. This is a critical role within their infrastructure team, focusing on the stability and optimization of high-volume transaction processing environments.

Role Overview

This position involves the end to end management of CICS on z/OS platforms. The successful candidate will handle everything from installation and upgrades to performance tuning and complex troubleshooting. You will act as a technical lead, collaborating with developers and other systems programmers to ensure mission critical applications remain highly available and secure.

Primary Responsibilities

• Manage the installation and maintenance of CICS Transaction Server using SMP/E.
• Monitor system health and performance using tools like RMF, BMC Mainview, or Intellimagic.
• Resolve complex technical issues and analyze system dumps.

Requirements and Qualifications

• Bachelor degree or equivalent professional experience.
• At least 6 years of infrastructure experience with a heavy focus on mainframe environments.
• Significant hands on experience as a CICS Systems Programmer, typically 7 to 10 years.
• Advanced proficiency in JCL, REXX, and SMP/E.
• Strong understanding of COBOL, Assembler, or PL/I.
• Expertise in z/OS internals and performance tuning.
• Ability to work in a dynamic environment which may include on call rotations.

Compensation and Benefits

The salary range for this position is 114,080 to 218,030 USD depending on experience and geography. The client offers a comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, 401k, pension, and generous paid time off.
