Job summary

The Mice Groups, Inc. is seeking a software engineer in Ann Arbor with strong C++ and embedded firmware experience for real‑time automotive systems. You will join a team developing the Arene service platform with middleware, IPC, and scheduling components.

You will collaborate with systems engineering and product teams, working on Linux-based platforms, CAN/Ethernet interfaces, and cross-domain vehicle services. This hybrid role requires regular on-site collaboration in Ann Arbor.

Qualifications

  • Experience with embedded software for automotive or robotics.
  • Strong C++ and Python development experience.
  • Ability to design test, verification, or validation plans.
  • Familiarity with CAN, Ethernet, SERDES interfaces in automotive contexts.

Job description

Location: Ann Arbor, MI (Hybrid - Minimum work on site 3 days a week)

Pay Rate: $64-$68/hourly (W2)

Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with systems engineering, product, and global partners to design and implement software solutions for the Arene service platform (Tools and SDK), ensuring reliability, scalability, and high performance.
  • Develop, integrate, and maintain system-level software components, with a strong focus on C++ and embedded firmware for real‑time and Linux-based automotive systems.
  • Implement and enhance middleware components, inter-process communication frameworks, and scheduling systems to support hardware‑agnostic, update‑friendly vehicle services that bridge multiple in‑vehicle domains and support rapid feature deployment.
  • Drive and support the development of system design specifications including state machines and sequence diagrams, and create testable system requirements.
  • Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve complex software and system‑level issues, working closely with quality and integration engineers.
  • Experience creating detailed system and software‑level requirements for complex products.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience leading software projects and/or small teams.
  • Experience with embedded software for robotics, automotive, or related industries.
  • Experience creating test, verification, or validation plans and methods.
  • Knowledge or experience with interfaces and protocols used in automotive or related embedded systems (CAN, Ethernet, SERDES).
  • Strong Python developer experience and understanding of C++.
  • Experience with CATIA and JAMA or Strictdoc.
  • AUTOSAR experience.
