We are seeking a System Director of Nursing Education (RN) to join a progressive, non-profit health system in Virginia. In this high-impact, system-level leadership role, you will oversee nursing education, clinical competency, professional development, and workforce initiatives across multiple hospitals and care settings.
You will lead a department of 120+ FTEs, including three direct reports, and work closely with the System Chief Nursing Officer and senior leadership to drive excellence in nursing practice and improve outcomes system-wide.
Develop and implement the system-wide strategy for nursing education and clinical development
Lead RN workforce programs, supporting recruitment, retention, and internal agency staffing
Oversee the redesign of the RN Residency Program with a focus on simulation-based learning
Drive continuing education, certification support, and leadership development for nurses
Chair the Nursing Professional Development Council, aligning goals with the System CNO
Advance innovation, research, and evidence-based practices in nursing education
Ensure life safety and compliance through system-wide training initiatives
Establish clear departmental goals, performance metrics, and accountability standards
Active RN license in Virginia (or compact eligible)
MSN required; DNP or PhD preferred
Minimum 5 years of clinical nursing experience, with at least 3 years in progressive leadership roles (preferably at the system or academic medical center level)
Experience in nursing education, simulation, workforce development, and evidence-based practice
Strong background in leading large teams and managing change in complex healthcare environments
Excellent leadership, communication, and strategic planning skills
Salary: Up to $180,000 per year
Bonus: Up to 10% annual performance bonus
