Amazon.com Services LLC is seeking a hands-on System Development Manager to lead one of our System Development and Support Engineering teams in a large, global organization. You will own the reliability and on-call health of critical production systems, drive automation, and grow engineers across multiple locations including Bellevue and international sites.

Qualifications

3+ years of systems engineering and operations leadership for an Internet service or leading edge IT organization
5+ years of managing system or software development teams
7+ years of hands-on systems engineering and administrative work in networking, storage systems, operating systems
Experience in agile software development methodology
Experience with AWS platforms, services, and design patterns
Experience (hands-on) in systems engineering and operations leadership across networking, storage, and OS

Responsibilities

Lead, hire, and develop a team of System Development and Support Engineers across multiple locations and time zones.
Own the operational health of your team's services — availability, latency, on-call, and incident response.
Drive automation and tooling to reduce manual effort and recurring operational load; set technical direction.
Own root-cause analysis and implement durable systemic fixes.
Define roadmap by partnering with stakeholders to prioritize demands.
Stay close to technical details; review designs and balance build-versus-buy and reliability decisions.
