Job summary

Independent Software, Inc. is seeking a System Administrator Level 1 to support the administration, maintenance, monitoring, and security of enterprise systems and applications for mission-critical operations.

You will maintain servers, troubleshoot issues, implement security controls, and collaborate with IT teams across functions. Responsibilities include system health checks, patching, capacity planning, and incident response.

Qualifications

• Experience in system administration and maintenance.
• Experience supporting servers, operating systems, applications, and enterprise IT environments.
• Strong hardware troubleshooting skills.
• Experience with system monitoring, performance, availability, and capacity management.
• Knowledge of system security controls, access management, endpoint protection, and firewalls.
• Experience supporting system upgrades, migrations, patching, and configuration changes.
• Excellent troubleshooting, documentation, communication, and teamwork skills.
• Ability to support escalated technical issues and guide junior staff.
• Availability for night shift Wednesday–Sunday 10:00 PM–6:00 AM and training Mon–Fri 6:00 AM–2:00 PM.

Responsibilities

• Monitor, maintain, and secure servers, OS, and key applications.
• Apply patches, updates, and configuration changes per change management.
• Perform health checks, capacity planning, and performance tuning.
• Diagnose and resolve system, application, and network issues.
• Provide advanced technical support for escalated issues.
• Document configurations, procedures, and standards.
• Assist with upgrades, migrations, and integrations.
• Collaborate with IT teams on initiatives and projects.
• Support audits, risk assessments, and remediation actions.
