Job Title: Sr. Azure Windows System Administrator
Our client, a leading Pacific Northwest utility provider committed to public service and environmental preservation, is seeking a Sr. Azure Windows System Administrator for a remote, one-year renewable contract that includes employee benefits. The role is within the System Administration (JNPS) organization, part of the Platform Services (JNP) subgroup within the IT Enterprise Technology Operations Services (JN) group, in the Information Technology (J) business line.
This position plays a key role in application and service delivery in a primarily Windows Server environment, focusing on Azure / Cloud configuration and configuration management of operating systems and applications relying on enterprise Windows Servers. The work must adhere to Cyber Security policies and meet audit requirements.
Responsibilities
- Provide technical support and governance for Azure Platform Services, including systems within Azure / Cloud, Virtual Datacenter, and Active Directory Domains.
- Install, test, maintain, and upgrade services and software supporting Platform Services within Azure / Cloud, Virtual Datacenter, and Active Directory Domains.
- Manage incidents, problems, and audits related to Platform Services, including monitoring performance and availability, evaluating issues, and recommending corrective actions for enterprise Windows Server technology.
- Install and decommission Windows and Red Hat Enterprise Linux Server hardware and software, ensuring security, interoperability, and connectivity.
- Support Enterprise Windows Hosting services through technical expertise, training, consultation, and support to staff and PaaS customers, covering architecture, capabilities, configuration, standards, procedures, and performance management.
- Participate in a rotation providing “On-Call” support for JNPS.
Requirements / Qualifications
- Associate or bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, engineering, or a related field is preferred.
- Minimum 8 years of experience with an applicable degree; 10 years without or in non-applicable fields.
- Direct experience in system administration within information technology.
- Advanced skills in computer systems and automated data systems.
- Knowledge of Windows Server OS and basic network architecture.
- Experience with managing Microsoft Azure identities and governance, deploying and managing Azure compute resources, and monitoring Azure resources.
- Proficiency with Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager, IIS, Virtual Server technologies (Hypervisor, VMWare), and Windows Clustering.
- Understanding of software development lifecycle, QA processes, build and deployment practices, and network/firewall principles.
