Job summary

Ariel Partners in New York seeks an experienced IT professional to design and maintain enterprise Unix/Linux infrastructure. You will develop system designs, configure databases, servers, storage, and networks, and ensure security and resiliency across multiple platforms.

Collaborate with managers, programmers, and support staff to plan implementations, test systems, generate documentation, and implement high-availability environments for critical enterprise applications.

Qualifications

• 4+ years' experience building highly available and scalable Linux/containerized infrastructures.
• Experience managing and maintaining UNIX systems.

Job description

PROJECT DESCRIPTION:

The Office of Enterprise Network (OEN) provides ongoing administration work required to maintain the health and integrity of the UNIX enterprise infrastructure. Additionally, OEN provides expertise and understanding of SAN storage and SAN Fabric switches across a variety of storage platforms.

TASK & DUTIES:

• Develop system design specifications
• Develops specifications for databases, communication systems, hardware, network, security, storage and software configurations.
• Develops, compiles, maintains and documents configurations of the following: databases, servers, computers, security and network monitor systems, packaged programs, macros, utilities, and communication systems.
• Develop operational and installation procedures for communication systems, hardware, network, security, storage and software.
• Develop detailed systems operations designs.
• Work with staff (e.g., managers, senior programmers, support staff, product manager) to plan application implementation, enhancements and changes
• Design reports, audit trails/logs, security mechanisms
• Occasionally contact customers as may be needed to clarify the intent of a new feature or resolve a problem
• Tests applications and systems and integrates system modules.
• Implement and maintain SAN on multiple storage platforms
• Develops, implements, and monitors information technology quality assurance standards.
• Perform Testing/Evaluation
• Provide assistance to technical support staff when they are unable to resolve a program, database, or IT issue by themselves
• Create, test and maintain highly available environments for enterprise systems resiliency
• Perform System Design
• Develop guidelines and upgrade techniques of new operational procedures for the support of databases, hardware systems, operating systems software, network systems software, security and client server systems.

• Develops and prepares documents for the general design of solutions that meet system and security requirements, including the selection of alternative approaches.

MANDATORY SKILLS/EXPERIENCE

• A minimum of 4 years of experience with the following skill sets:
• Building and supporting highly available and scalable infrastructures (Linux server/containerized environments)
• Managing and maintaining UNIX systems
• Technical and user documentation.
• Designing 3-tiered infrastructure
