Job description

This position requires an active Secret clearance.

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented System Administrator to manage and maintain our organization’s IT infrastructure. This role is responsible for ensuring the stability, integrity, and efficient operation of information systems, supporting both end-users and backend systems.

Compensation & Benefits:

Estimated Starting Salary Range for System Administrator: Pay commensurate with experience.

System Administrator Responsibilities Include:

• Install, configure, and maintain servers, networks, and related hardware/software.
• Monitor system performance and troubleshoot issues to ensure high availability.
• Apply patches, updates, and security configurations in accordance with IT policies.
• Manage user accounts, permissions, and access controls in Active Directory and other systems.
• Support backup and disaster recovery planning and execution.
• Maintain documentation for systems, configurations, and procedures.
• Assist with IT audits, compliance checks, and vulnerability assessments.
• Provide Tier 2/3 support for escalated technical issues.
• Collaborate with cybersecurity and IT teams to enforce security best practices.
• Performs other job-related duties as assigned

System Administrator Experience, Education, Skills, Abilities requested:

• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field (or equivalent experience).
• 5+ years of experience in system administration (Windows, Linux, or both).
• Proficiency in virtualization (VMware, Hyper-V), networking, and scripting (PowerShell, Bash).
• Familiarity with cloud services (e.g., AWS, Azure) and remote monitoring tools.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently or in a team.
• Certifications such as CompTIA Security+, Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator, or RHCSA preferred.
• Experience with configuration management tools (e.g., Ansible, Puppet) preferred.
• Knowledge of security frameworks and compliance standards (NIST, FISMA, etc.) preferred.
• Must pass pre-employment qualifications of Cherokee Federal
