The Security Systems Administrator is responsible for managing and securing Defy Security’s IT infrastructure. This role requires a strong blend of IT operations and security expertise, including system administration, network management, security monitoring, compliance enforcement, and incident response —combined with a proactive approach to designing new security solutions. The ideal candidate will have deep technical knowledge of IT environments, security best practices, and regulatory compliance frameworks and excel at troubleshooting, optimizing system performance, and elevating overall security measures across the organization.

Location: Remote - United States

Key Responsibilities

Security Monitoring & Incident Response:

  • Regularly review and analyze security logs, system alerts, and network traffic to detect, investigate, and mitigate security threats and anomalies.
  • Develop, implement, and refine incident response plans for rapid, effective cybersecurity event management.
  • Conduct regular vulnerability assessments to identify risks and implement remediation plans that strengthen IT security.

Policy Development & Compliance:

  • Create, review, and maintain IT security policies, standards, and procedures in line with industry best practices and compliance requirements.
  • Conduct security audits and risk assessments to identify gaps and implement essential controls.

System Administration, Design & IT Operations:

  • Administer key security and IT tools—including Okta (SSO/MFA), CrowdStrike (EDR), Intune, and Kandji (MDM)—to ensure effective system operations.
  • Design, develop, and implement new security solutions and system enhancements to address emerging threats and improve operational efficiency
  • Provide Level 2 and Level 3 technical support by troubleshooting IT issues and escalating when needed for timely resolution.

Qualifications:

  • 5–7+ years of experience in system administration, IT security, or a related field.
  • Solid understanding of cybersecurity principles, including threat detection, incident response, and vulnerability management.
  • Experience with cloud environments (Azure, AWS) and managing cloud-based security solutions.
  • Hands-on experience with SSO, EDR, and MDM solutions such as Okta, CrowdStrike, Intune, and Kandji.
  • Strong knowledge of compliance and regulatory standards (e.g., NIST, CIS, SOC 2, ISO 27001).
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to document processes and present findings to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Proven ability to adapt and manage multiple priorities simultaneously, balancing IT operations and security tasks with strong accountability for results.
  • This position follows Central/Pacific Time zone working hours.

The anticipated annual base salary range for this position is $75,000 to $115,000 USD. Actual compensation will be determined based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to the candidate's relevant experience, skills, and qualifications, as well as market conditions. This position may also be eligible for commission-based compensation, depending on the role and performance
