Job summary

Synergy ECP is looking for a skilled Systems Administrator to support implementation and maintenance of IT systems in Columbia, Maryland. The ideal candidate will manage system infrastructure, provide troubleshooting, and ensure compliance with security protocols.

Overview

Responsibilities
  • Provides support for implementation, troubleshooting and maintenance of IT systems. Manages IT system infrastructure and related processes. Supports day-to-day operations, monitoring and problem resolution for client/server/storage/network devices and mobile devices.
  • Provides Tier 1 (Help Desk) and Tier 2 (Escalation) problem identification, diagnosis and resolution of problems; communicates status to agency management and internal customers.
  • Configures and manages UNIX, Linux and Windows operating systems; installs/loads operating system software; troubleshoots and maintains integrity; configures network components and implements operating system enhancements to improve reliability and performance.
  • Implements IAVA security patches and records patch status in appropriate systems of record.
  • Optimizes system operations and resource utilization; performs system capacity analysis and planning.
  • Provides in-depth troubleshooting experience and detailed analysis/feedback to agency management and internal customers for escalated tickets.
  • Configures and manages UNIX, Linux and Windows (or other applicable) operating systems and loads/installs operating system software; troubleshoots and maintains the integrity of network components; implements OS enhancements to improve reliability and performance.
  • Interacts with the Information System Security Officer (ISSO) and Information System Owner (ISO) regarding system changes as part of Change and Configuration Management.
  • Supports the ISO by completing required milestones of Plan of Action & Milestones (POA&M) and coordinates completion status with the ISSO for Security Authorizations.
  • Ensures IT assets remain compliant with Identity & Access Management (ICAM) policies.
  • Provides Tier 2 (Escalation) problem identification, diagnosis and resolution of problems.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline from an accredited college or university; four (4) years of additional SA experience may be substituted for a bachelor’s degree.
  • Ten (10) years of experience as a Systems Administrator in programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity.
  • Four (4) years of experience with Service Management (ITSM).
  • DoD 8570 compliance Information Assurance Technical (IAT) Level II certification.
