The System Administrator is responsible for provisioning, configuration, maintenance, security, and support ofLouisiana Community and Technical Colleges (LCTC) System technology infrastructure, including servers, operating systems, enterprise applications, endpoint devices, and related systems. This role ensures the reliability, performance, availability, and security of technology services that support teaching, learning, and administrative operations.
Working in a collaborative team environment, the System Administrator partners with IT staff and other LCTC System stakeholders to deliver effective technology solutions, support continuous improvement initiatives, and maintain a secure, resilient computing environment. Responsibilities include system monitoring, patchmanagement, troubleshooting, technical research, and the implementation of best practices that enhance operational efficiency and cybersecurity.
The System Administrator also provides desktop and system-related support, delivering exceptional customer service and clear communication. Success in this role requires strong technical expertise, problem-solving skills, teamwork, and a commitment to supporting the institution's academic mission through reliable and secure technology services.

REQUIRED EDUCATION:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field; or Associate’s degree plus two (2) years of relevant IT experience; or four (4) years of equivalent systems administration or infrastructure support experience.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:
Experience administering Windows-based server environments (e.g., Active Directory, Microsoft 365), and related infrastructure technologies.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Strong customer service orientation with the ability to effectively support users at all levels of the organization.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain technical concepts to nontechnical audiences.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
Experience with scripting and automation tools (e.g., PowerShell) to improve operational efficiency and system management.
Experience supporting infrastructure projects, including system upgrades, migrations, deployments, and disaster recovery initiatives.
PREFERRED CERTIFICATION:
Systems Administration/System Engineer certification in Microsoft technologies (MCSE), CompTIA, VMware, Azure preferred.
