Job summary

CPS Inc. is seeking an innovative organic chemist to join its hands-on R&D team in Ohio. The role focuses on designing synthetic routes and developing novel organic molecules for next‑generation materials in a highly collaborative lab environment.

You will design, optimize, and scale multi‑step syntheses, perform advanced purification and characterization, and maintain meticulous documentation while working with multidisciplinary scientists to advance new technologies.

Qualifications

• PhD required in organic chemistry or closely related field.
• Strong background in multi-step organic synthesis; graduate research counts.
• Experience with analytical techniques including NMR, GC, LC, and MS.
• Ability to design practical synthetic pathways from literature.

Responsibilities

• Design and synthesize novel organic molecules at laboratory scale.
• Develop and optimize multi-step synthetic routes and methodologies.
• Perform purification techniques including chromatography, distillation, and crystallization.
• Characterise reaction products using analytical instrumentation.
• Maintain accurate laboratory notebooks and technical documentation.
• Present research findings and recommend next steps to project teams.
• Collaborate with cross-functional R&D scientists to support product development.
• Provide technical insight to internal stakeholders while promoting a safe laboratory environment.
