Job summary

Integrated Power Services, LLC. (IPS) is seeking a dedicated Switchgear Technician to re-certify MCCs, switchgear, and E-Houses to customer specs. You will modify layouts, perform painting, and support field service at client sites across the territory.

Strong safety focus and mechanical aptitude are essential. The role requires reading and interpreting documents, overtime when needed, and a valid driver’s license for travel to sites. Training and development are provided.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Mechanical aptitude preferred for interpreting layouts.
• Must pass respirator fit test and wear PPE.
• Ability to read and modify technical documents.
• Overtime required based on business needs.
• Must hold a valid driver’s license with clean record.
• Capable of driving company vehicle in territory.

Responsibilities

• Follow engineering layout to build MCC, switchgears, and E-Houses.
• Paint MCC and switchgear structures as required.
• Perform field service at client sites as needed.
• Deliver product to other locations.

Responsibilities & Expectations:

Southland Group, an IPS company, is a world class leader in Power Distribution and Low Voltage Motor Control. For over 30 years we have been buying and selling New, New Surplus and Reconditioned industrial electrical equipment. In early 2023, Southland was acquired by Integrated Power Services.

We are seeking a dedicated Switchgear Technician to re-certify MCC, Switchgear, and E-Houses to the customer’s specifications. In this position, your job duties will include changing MCC layouts and painting of the structures. This position requires a motivated,detail-orientedteam member with the ability to learn quickly and work safely.

• Follow our engineering layout to build MCC, Switchgears, and E-Houses

Qualifications and Competencies:

• High School Diploma or equivalent


• Mechanical aptitude preferred


• Proper use of Personal Protection Equipment (PPE)


• Ability to pass a respirator fit test and be trained on proper respirator protocol


• General understanding and firsthand experience with safe work environments


• Be able to read, interpret, and modify documents


• Ability to work overtime. Mandatory overtime is required based on business need


• Must possess a valid driver’s license and maintain an excellent driving record


• Must be able to drive a company vehicle throughout the assigned territory to transport product


• Ability to possess the following certifications: Pearl Level I and II, Forklift training, TSC Electrical Training Classes completed within one (1) year of hire date, Mine and Safety Administration (MSHA) Training, 10-30 Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) Card, In-house Training on individual machines in the shop
