Job summary

Integrated Power Services (IPS) is seeking a Field Service Technician for Midwest Switchgear to test and maintain low, medium, and high voltage equipment on commercial and industrial sites. You will lead field teams, perform testing, calibrations, and readings, and ensure timely execution with safety as a priority.

Required are 5+ years of testing experience, proficiency with Megger, Hi-Pot, and related test gear, and a valid driver's license.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of testing experience in high/low voltage environments.
• Ability to read schematics, manuals, and safety guidelines.
• willingness to work flexible hours, overtime and weekends; on-call as required.

Responsibilities

• Test and calibrate power distribution equipment (low, medium, high voltage).
• Troubleshoot, inspect, start-ups and collect data on switchgear and transformers.
• Perform service and repair work, inspections, diagnosis, and parts replacement.
• Adhere to safety protocols including LOTO and document work reports.
• Lead teamwork and communicate clearly with customers on issues and resolutions.

Responsibilities & Expectations

As a Field Service Technician for Midwest Switchgear, an IPS company, you will perform testing and maintenance on low, medium and high voltage power distribution equipment for our commercial and industrial clients, as well as assist with leading teams in the field.

• Testing and Calibrations:
  • Instrument Transformer
  • Power Transformer testing - Doble, Insulation Resistance, Transformer Turns Ratio (TTR)
  • Cable testing including Power Factor, Tan Delta, VLF, Hipot
  • Circuit breaker & Switchgear testing of low, medium & high voltage
  • Primary & Secondary Injection Testing
  • Protective Relay testing including electro-mechanical and solid state
  • Continuity, Ground Fault
  • Power Quality
• Troubleshooting, inspecting, start-ups and collect data on: switchgear, circuit breakers, cables, transformers, protective relays, VFDs, ATS
• Service & Repair: Inspections, diagnosis of issues, replace parts, make recommendations, recommissioning
• Safety: adhere to all safety protocols including LOTO
• Teamwork: contributes to a strong team environment through assisting teammates in accomplishing mutual goals
• Customer Service: communicate all information to customers in a way they understand the issues & resolutions
• Documentation: complete reports on the work you have completed
• Perform NETA or NICET standards as required

Qualifications and Competencies

• Must have 5 or more years of relevant testing experience
• Proficient in using tools and testing equipment, including Megger, digital multimeter, Hi-Pot tester, Oil Dielectric strength tester, multiamps relay tester, primary & secondary injection set, cable fault detector, and oscilloscope
• Must have at least 3 years of experience operating a vehicle with a valid, unrestricted driver's license
• Good communication and customer service skills
• Ability to read and interpret schematics, operating manuals and safety guidelines
• Ability to work flexible hours, overtime and weekends as required, willingness to be on call
