Job summary

Inner Circle Agency is seeking a detail-oriented Switchgear Design Engineer (UL891) to design low voltage switchboards and panelboards for a Charleston-area role with relocation support. The engineer will develop complex electrical systems and collaborate with cross-functional teams to bring designs from concept to production.

Ideal candidates will have 4–8 years of experience, strong CAD skills (Autodesk preferred), and solid understanding of electrical design principles.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering (or related field).
• 4-8 years of professional experience (working for UL891 OEM or Equivalent).
• Strong proficiency in 2D and 3D CAD software (Autodesk preferred).
• Solid understanding of electrical systems and design principles.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Design low voltage switchboards and panelboards in compliance with applicable standards and regulations.
• Create 3D sheet metal components and flat patterns.
• Develop complex 3D assemblies with large multi-component BOMs.
• Produce wiring diagrams including PLCs, relays, breakers, and power systems.
• Generate 2D drawings including layouts, single-line diagrams, and front views.
• Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, and vendors to ensure accurate execution.
• Translate client requirements into practical and efficient design solutions.
