Job summary

Hubbell Incorporated seeks a Switchgear Design Engineer to lead the design of UL 891 low-voltage switchgear systems, focusing on busbar layouts, control schemes, and integrated electrical/mechanical assemblies. You will perform electrical analyses, support equipment selection, and produce detailed deliverables while improving manufacturing processes and collaborating with cross-functional teams.

Qualifications

• BSEE or related technical degree required.
• 3–5 years’ production engineering experience.
• Designed LV switchgear bus systems with ampacity considerations.
• Performed short-circuit, load flow, voltage drop calculations.
• Developed single-line diagrams, control schematics, wiring diagrams.
• Engineered copper/aluminum busbar layouts for thermal/mechanical criteria.
• Created interlocking schemes and control logic for breakers.
• Selected breakers, CTs/PTs, relays and control components.
• Applied protective relay settings; coordination studies (ETAP/SKM).
• Ensured ANSI/IEEE/IEC/UL/NEC compliance.

Responsibilities

• Design and validate busbar designs (ampacity, short-circuit withstand, thermal/mechanical).
• Create control schematics and interlocking logic for protection schemes.
• Generate engineering deliverables: single-line diagrams, wiring diagrams, layouts, BOMs.
• Analyze and improve manufacturing processes and layout for efficiency.
• Collaborate with mechanical, manufacturing, and field teams to optimize constructability.
• Support FAT/SAT testing and provide technical issue resolution.
