Job summary

Harris Teeter is seeking a SWITCHER/YARDMAN for the Indian Distribution Center 2nd shift. You will move trailers to support grocery, frozen, and salvage dock areas and ensure safe, orderly yard operations.

Responsibilities include parking trailers with wheels chocked, unloading salvage trailers when needed, and guiding loaded trailers to unloading doors while maintaining awareness of all yard activities.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• 1–3 months related experience.
• Experience operating tractors and trailers.
• Ability to read safety rules and procedure manuals.

Responsibilities

• Move trailers on distribution grounds to meet warehouse needs.
• Chock wheels when parking trailers.
• Unload salvage trailers as needed.
• Move loaded trailers dropped by outside drivers to unloading doors.
• Maintain trailer status awareness.
• Document assignments on the door sheet.
• Follow safety guidelines and attendance policy.
• Wash tractors and trailers as directed.
• Support Transportation Manager and adapt to shifting priorities.
• Perform other duties as required.
