Job summary

Parkridge Medical Center in Chattanooga, TN is seeking a PRN PBX/Switchboard Operator to operate the hospital switchboard and pager system and to support all emergency plans in accordance with hospital policy.

In this role you will receive and direct incoming calls, coordinate with hospital units during visitation times, document EMTALA-related information, assist patients, families, visitors, and staff with courteous service, and handle related tasks such as mail, meals, and access controls.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• PBX/Customer Service Experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Receive and direct all incoming calls to the appropriate party, in a timely and professional manner.
• Coordinate with Hospital units and staff during visitation times while providing excellent customer service to all employees, visitors, physicians, patients and referral sources.
• Coordinate with RESPOND on individuals presenting for assessments and entering information into the EMTALA log and also on calls and/or regarding potential concerns for customers waiting to be assessed and/or admitted.
• Assist in any possible way with customer/patient/family needs during phone call and visitation times as well as for those waiting to be seen by hospital staff for any reason.
• Coordinate with business office meal ticket monies, safe entries and removals, mail distribution, and vehicle sign ins/outs.

Parkridge Medical Center is a 270+ bed hospital. We are near downtown Chattanooga. We feature comprehensive diagnostic, medical, and surgical services. These services include cardiovascular surgery and cancer treatment. These services include intensive care, orthopedic and spine surgery, and rehabilitation. The facility includes a state of the art neurosurgery program. Patients also have access to OB-GYN services. Patients have access to a level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.
