Job summary

MaineHealth Accountable Care Organization's Maine Medical Center in Biddeford, ME is seeking a Switchboard Operator for the evening shift. You will handle prompt telephone communications, paging announcements, and assist patients and visitors with information per policy.

You will manage the paging and alarm systems, coordinate with care teams, security, and facilities, and support the Patient Access service line as needed.

Qualifications

  • Education: High School diploma or GED preferred.
  • Experience: related experience, such as customer service or dispatch/switchboard operator, preferred.
  • Preferred: Microsoft Word, email and internet skills with accurate data entry.

Responsibilities

  • Handle prompt and courteous telephone communications between callers and the organization.
  • Provide paging announcements using the public address system and greet the public for information requests.
  • Manage the paging system, hospital alarm systems, and respond to hospital emergency situations as needed.
  • Collaborate with clinical care teams, security, facilities, patients and visitors; support the Patient Access service line as required.

Summary:
The Switchboard Operator role is responsible for prompt and efficient telephone communications between persons outside and/or within the organization, providing paging announcements by utilizing the public address system, greeting the public and providing patients and visitors with information they request in accordance with established policy guidelines. Functions performed also include managing the paging system, hospital alarm systems, and hospital emergency situations. The Switchboard Operator will work closely with clinical care teams, security, facilities, patients and members of the public. May perform or support additional functions within the Patient Access service line and maintain master directory for the organization.
