Job description

Rutherford Regional Health System is a 143-bed acute care facility offering a broad array of inpatient and outpatient care. We are dedicated to providing patients with comprehensive healthcare services in a caring and professional environment through teamwork among our medical staff and employees.

This collaboration combines Duke’s expertise in clinical excellence and quality care with LifePoint’s extensive resources and experience in operating community hospitals and healthcare organizations.

The role involves receiving all incoming calls to the hospital, managing in-house paging, codes, and dial-a-page systems, and maintaining updated files with current room numbers, discharged patients, and new admissions. The operator also maintains employee information for disaster procedures and updates bulletin boards accordingly.

Essential Functions:

• Answer incoming calls to hospital extensions and patient rooms.
• Handle calls from in-house extensions and emergency calls, including paging and codes.
• Contact appropriate personnel based on the situation.
• Manage intercom paging and relay general information from both in-house and outside callers.
• During evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays, contact on-call personnel as directed by the Nursing Supervisor, and relay messages via paging, beeping, or calls to their homes.
• Keep all pertinent information updated on bulletin boards, disaster policies, and procedures.
• Stay informed about changes affecting switchboard functions.

Minimum Education: High school diploma or equivalent required.
