Job summary

Switch is seeking a Regional Environmental Manager to lead environmental compliance programs across Reno, NV, and Austin/Houston, TX campuses. Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a closely related field.
  • Eight or more years of progressive environmental compliance experience supporting multiple sites.
  • Experience managing environmental programs across more than one state or regulatory jurisdiction.
  • Working knowledge of air, water, stormwater, wastewater, waste, hazardous materials, spill prevention, and environmental reporting requirements.
  • Experience managing environmental permits, plans, inspections, monitoring, and regulatory submissions.
  • Experience working directly with environmental regulators, inspectors, consultants, or third-party auditors.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to travel up to 30%.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Lead environmental compliance programs for assigned Nevada and Texas campuses.
  • Manage air quality permitting and compliance activities, including permit applications and renewals, operating-hour tracking, fuel-use records, emissions calculations, reporting, and recordkeeping.
  • Develop and maintain Spill Prevention, Control, and Countermeasure plans and Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plans.
  • Manage NPDES, stormwater, and wastewater compliance activities, including permitting, inspections, monitoring, best management practices, and reporting.
  • Support Emergency Planning and Community Right-to-Know Act Tier II and Toxic Release Inventory reporting.
  • Lead waste compliance programs covering waste characterization, handling, storage, transportation, and disposal.
  • Support environmental requirements for emergency generators, fuel systems, battery storage, cooling infrastructure, water treatment systems, and chemical management.
  • Support regional emergency preparedness and response programs, including facility response plans, drills, training, and incident management.
  • Ensure permits, registrations, plans, inspections, and reports are accurate, current, and submitted on time.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for environmental regulators, inspectors, consultants, and third-party auditors within the region.
  • Coordinate responses to inspections, agency requests, notices, and enforcement matters.
  • Monitor emerging regulations and assess potential impacts on Switch operations and projects.
  • Support Environmental Management Systems, compliance audits, and risk assessments.
  • Provide environmental support for new construction, expansions, and upgrades at existing facilities.
  • Develop and deliver environmental training for Operations teams, contractors, and support personnel.
  • Investigate spills, permit deviations, environmental incidents, and regulatory inquiries.
  • Track corrective actions and ensure identified issues are resolved.
  • Support sustainability initiatives related to water, waste, emissions, energy, and resource management.
  • Maintain regional compliance records, dashboards, and performance reporting.
  • Travel up to 30% to support assigned campuses and regulatory activities.

The Role: Regional Environmental Manager

The Regional Environmental Manager leads environmental compliance programs for Switch campuses in Reno, Nevada, and Austin and Houston, Texas. This role serves as the primary environmental compliance resource for the region and is responsible for program ownership, regulatory engagement, permitting, compliance assurance, and environmental incident response.

You will partner with Operations, Engineering, Construction, Energy, Legal, Procurement, and regulatory agencies to maintain compliance with federal, state, and local requirements. What Youll Do

Required Qualifications

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook, and reporting tools such as Power BI.

  • Ability to travel up to 30%.

  • Ability to perform the essential functions of the role, including working in active operational environments and lifting or moving up to 10 pounds frequently and up to 100 pounds occasionally, with or without reasonable accommodation.

  • Ability to wear required Personal Protective Equipment while working in designated operational, construction, or warehouse areas.

Preferred Qualifications

  • In-depth knowledge of Nevada and Texas environmental regulations.

  • Experience with Enhesa, Enablon, Procore, or similar compliance and project management systems.

  • Experience with ISO 14001 Environmental Management Systems or ISO 50001 Energy Management Systems.

  • Experience working with environmental organizations, Tribal governments, industry associations, or community stakeholders.
