Job description

Shape precision parts. Grow your craft. Join a team that cares. For more than 60 years, our family-owned shop has blended craftsmanship with community. You’ll work alongside supportive teammates who value collaboration, mentorship, and pride in a job well done.A day in this roleYou arrive to a clean, organized cell and review the morning’s work orders. With drawings and models open, you plan your machining sequence and fire up CAD/CAM to build or refine a program for a multi‑axis Swiss-type Citizen or Star. You set tools and workholding, dial in offsets, and run the first piece—verifying every dimension against the print. Once production is flowing, you capture setup notes, update revision-controlled documents, and mentor a newer operator through best practices. When a challenging tolerance pops up, you troubleshoot tooling, feeds/speeds, or program strategy to stabilize the process and keep quality and throughput on target. What you’ll tackleDevelop, prove out, edit, and optimize CNC programs for Citizen and Star Swiss-type turn/mill machines using applicable CAD/CAM tools (ESPRIT experience is a plus).Perform complete setups: tooling selection, workholding, offsets, program edits, and machine adjustments; then operate for first-article and production.Validate setups and first-piece results via precision measurement and comparison to drawings, models, and specifications (including GD&T).Create and maintain setup sheets, tooling data, approved programs, production records, and process-control documentation under strict file and revision control.Troubleshoot programming, tooling, and machine issues; complete assigned preventive maintenance; and drive continuous improvement in quality, productivity, and reliability.Track tooling and consumables and request replacements proactively.Train and mentor operators, setup personnel, department teammates, and student interns.Communicate process updates, corrective actions, and production concerns to peers and leadership.Keep machines, gauges, and work areas orderly and safe while complying with ISO quality requirements, ITAR, CMMC, information-security policies, and safety regulations.About you5+ years hands-on with Citizen and Star Swiss-type CNC lathes.Comfortable programming in CAD/CAM (ESPRIT highly desirable) and editing G-code at the control.Read and interpret engineering drawings, models, and GD&T with ease.Solid grounding in tooling, workholding, machining methods, speeds/feeds, inspection, and root-cause troubleshooting.Competent with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.Strong math, mechanical aptitude, organization, communication, and time management.Thrives working independently, juggling priorities, meeting production goals, and coaching less-experienced teammates.Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; vocational/technical/apprenticeship or machining-program training preferred.Physical demandsRegular standing and movement in the work area; frequent handling of small parts and tools.Lift and move items up to 40 lbs.Visual acuity (with or without correction) to read technical information, operate machine controls, inspect small features, and identify fine dimensional/surface details.Tools & technologies you’ll useCNC Swiss Lathe (Star, Citizen)CAM Software (Esprit)CNC Lathe (5+ axis)Calipers and MicrometersSchedule, pay, and benefitsFirst shift only: Monday–Friday, 7:00 a.m.–3:30 p.m.Blue Cross Blue Shield medical & dental coverage, 401(k) with employer match, tuition reimbursement, and medical/dependent care FSAs.Career path: Demonstrated technical excellence, dependability, sound judgment, communication, and leadership potential can lead to a department lead opportunity based on business needs.Compliance noticesThis is a non-exempt, hourly position with a pay range of $42-$50/hour.Due to Federal/Governmental Contractor Regulations - all applicants must be US Citizens or Permanent ResidentsProficiencies we valueCNC Programming and G-codeCNC machine setup and changeover for production runsPrecision measurement and hand metrologyBring your experience.
