Job summary

Torrey Holistics is seeking a skilled Star Swiss Turning Setup Machinist to translate customer specifications into precise parts. You will set up Star Swiss equipment, install tooling, update fixturing, and load programs, ensuring a clean startup and on-time production.

You will read blueprints with GD&T, perform medium-complex setups, monitor tool life, and inspect parts with calipers and micrometers. A strong background in 4- and 5-axis machining and experience with Epicor or shop control

Qualifications

• 4+ years in a production or job-shop machining environment.
• Hands-on experience setting up and operating Star Swiss equipment.
• Strong background in 4- and 5-axis machining concepts.
• Familiarity with manufacturing scheduling/shop control systems (Epicor a plus).

Responsibilities

• Open the job traveler, review the manufacturing plan/product specifications, and call up the correct Swiss program.
• Select, install, and qualify tooling; update fixturing; set work/geometry/tool offsets for a clean startup.
• Perform medium-complexity setups on production parts (non-CFA, FA, or SCR jobs).
• Load raw material/parts and run to plan, monitoring tool life and wear; change tools per the tool-life schedule.
• Produce an internal first article and make any offset/tooling adjustments needed to pass QA.
• Inspect parts at the machine with calipers, micrometers, height gauges, pins, and other precision tools.
• Read and apply blueprint requirements and advanced GD&T to align print, program, and setup for conformance.
• Deburr in-process work and maintain part identification, counts, labels, and stamps per shop-paper procedures.
• Champion Lean/Continuous Improvement and 5S to eliminate waste and sustain a clean, organized area.
