Job Opportunity: Heavy Diesel Truck Mechanic - Idaho Division

Knife River, a leading construction materials producer and contractor, is seeking an experienced Heavy Diesel Truck Mechanic for our Idaho division. Position Details: This is a night shift role requiring the ability to work independently and as part of a team, often in extreme weather conditions.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Read and interpret operating/maintenance manuals and technical schematics.
  2. Inspect fleet vehicles and equipment in accordance with policies and regulations.
  3. Ensure compliance with DOT, OSHA, EPA standards.
  4. Collaborate with operators, site personnel, vendors, and support teams to assess service needs.
  5. Diagnose vehicle and equipment issues, operate company equipment for troubleshooting.
  6. Operate and maintain cranes and other heavy equipment.
  7. Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment.
  8. Perform repairs under various weather conditions and environments.
  9. Operate forklifts and skid loaders safely and efficiently.
  10. Manage inventory and complete necessary paperwork.
  11. Adhere to safety protocols and wear PPE as required.
  12. Work flexible hours, including overtime, nights, and weekends.
  13. Maintain regular attendance and perform additional duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
  1. Class C driver’s license.
  2. Self-motivated team player with strong interpersonal skills.
  3. Basic troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.
  4. Minimum 5 years’ experience with semi-trucks and trailers.
  5. Ability to perform mechanic duties effectively.
  6. Maintain positive relations with customers and colleagues.
Preferred Qualifications:
  1. Class B license with tanker endorsements.
  2. Hazmat certification.
  3. Forklift experience.
Physical Requirements:
  1. Walking, bending, lifting, and climbing.
  2. Exerting force up to 100 pounds occasionally.
  3. Use of hands for grasping and manipulations.
  4. Effective communication using speech, vision, and hearing.
  5. Climbing in and out of trucks multiple times a day.
  6. Exposure to environmental conditions and PPE requirements.
