Job summary

Viking Packaging in New Paltz, NY is seeking an experienced Production Supervisor to lead the Swing Shift team. This hands-on role focuses on safety, quality, productivity, and staff development while meeting daily production targets.

You will partner with the Manager of Operational Excellence to drive Lean manufacturing initiatives, monitor performance metrics, and continuously improve processes across the shift.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience leading a manufacturing team.
• 5+ years of manufacturing experience.
• Proven experience coaching and developing employees.
• Experience with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, 5S, or continuous improvement.
• Strong understanding of production efficiency, waste reduction, and performance metrics.
• Strong problem‑solving and communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment.
• High school diploma or GED required; additional technical or business education preferred.
• Lean Six Sigma certification is a plus.
• Corrugated or packaging manufacturing experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead, coach, and develop a team of 30+ production employees.
• Establish and maintain a safe working environment, ensuring all employees follow safety policies.
• Manage daily production activities to meet safety, quality, and schedule expectations.
• Monitor production metrics including efficiency, downtime, waste, and quality.
• Partner with Operational Excellence on Lean Six Sigma, 5S, Kaizen, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Identify opportunities to improve processes, reduce waste, and increase productivity.
• Train employees and address attendance, performance, and safety issues.
• Work with Customer Service, Quality, Maintenance and other departments to resolve production issues.
• Communicate shift priorities and results to management and other shifts.
