SUMMARY

The Swing Cook is responsible for preparing quality meals and properly supervising student workers in the kitchen. While this position is primarily a mid‑shift position the swing cook must also be able to open and close the kitchen when necessary. This position requires cross‑training, flexible work hours including the weekend, being responsible and possessing time management skills. The core of Cornerstone University is defined and driven by its Christ‑centered mission and Biblical confession.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Prepare quality meals while preventing food waste.
  • Follow established recipes and use a computer to access recipe database.
  • Assist with food preparation.
  • Regularly give feedback to chef on recipes and how students feel about menu items.
  • Verify all food prepared matches allergen labeling displayed in the Front of the House.
  • Model and communicate proper food safety techniques.
  • Properly maintain all food logs and production notes.
  • Assist in training, developing, and overseeing student kitchen employees.
  • Be trained and able to open and close the kitchen properly.
  • Ability to cross‑train throughout Food Service.
  • Maintain set standards of quality and safety.
  • Handle pressure, multitasking, and some weekend hours.
  • Lift and carry 25 lbs.
  • May require extended working hours at times.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
  • 2+ years food service experience.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication.
  • Strong organizational and mathematical skills.

A personal relationship with Jesus Christ and an active Christian commitment.
