An excellent cook must be able to follow instructions, be deft in moving around the kitchen, and adept at multi-tasking. Experience in using various ingredients and cooking techniques is important.

Responsibilities

• Set up workstations with all needed ingredients and cooking equipment
• Prepare ingredients to use in cooking (chopping and peeling vegetables, cutting meat etc.)
• Prepare, portion, cook food items for various meal periods or special events
• Follow basic recipes and production information
• Ensure great presentation by dressing dishes before they are served
• Keep a sanitized and orderly environment in the kitchen
• Ensure all food and other items are stored properly
• Follow all company HACCP and safety policies

Skills and Qualifications

• Proven experience as cook
• Knowledge of various cooking procedures and methods (grilling, baking, boiling etc.)
• Familiarity with commercial kitchen equipment
• Ability to follow all sanitation procedures
• Ability to work in a team environment
• Very good communication skills

Physical Requirements

• Continuous standing/walking and other means of mobility up to 8 hours a day
• Ability to reach, bend, stoop, push/pull and frequently lift/move up to 30 pounds

Other Information / Requirements

• Schedule: Monday - Friday, 6:00am - 2:00pm
• Time Off: Most major holidays off; approximately 1-month Christmas break furlough period; approximately 3-month summer furlough period.
• Position Summary: This role supports daily food service and program operations, ensuring a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for students and staff. The ideal candidate is reliable, organized, and comfortable working in a fast-paced setting.
• Key Responsibilities:
  • Prepare and serve breakfast each morning
  • Set up and prepare daycare food service
  • Make daily soup
  • Operate the smoothie bar
  • Run "Showtime" (daily action station/food service period)
  • Assist cooks with meal prep as needed
  • Maintain cleanliness and food safety standards
  • Support general kitchen and program operations as assigned
• Ability to work the full 6am - 2pm shift
• Comfortable working in a team environment
