Job summary

The Maschhoffs is seeking a Research Associate to manage and oversee research activities in a multidisciplinary swine science program. You will conduct trials and collect data across commercial centers, sow farms, and processing plants, ensuring adherence to study protocols and data integrity.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent required.
• Major(s): Animal Science, Agricultural Business, or related field.
• Minimum 4 years of experience; education accepted in lieu of experience.
• Experience with data collection in research settings is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Foster partnership with farm and plant personnel to ensure trials are completed on time and within constraints.
• Balance needs of the research program with farms and processing plants; adapt priorities as needed.
• Conduct research in various hog production environments and provide updates to R&D leadership.
• Collaborate with R&D leadership to design study protocols and adhere to processes.
• Collect live animal data at hog barns and carcass data at processing plants using multiple data methods.
• Drive biological pig performance by following SOPs to maximize growth potential.
• Serve as PI on projects, write protocols, make critical decisions, and assist with results write-up.
• Lead commercial genetic testing with company partners.
• Capture and validate data/results of projects at processing plants.
• Ensure data integrity through equipment validation and protocol execution.
• Safeguard colleagues and animals, and provide on-farm support as needed.
