Job summary

Iowa Select Farms is seeking a hands-on operations specialist to support the day-to-day management of our research sites and ensure adherence to feeding and management protocols for feed trials.

You will care for pigs, monitor health and welfare, maintain facilities, manage data entry, and collaborate with the veterinary team on trial activities—on-site and safety-focused work culture. Strong attention to detail and teamwork are essential.

Qualifications

• Bilingual English/Spanish preferred with written and verbal fluency.
• Experience in swine production operations and interest in swine research; ability to follow protocols.

Responsibilities

• Care and management of animals to ensure well-being and policy adherence.
• Ensure proper feeding and water access; daily observation and treatment of sick animals.
• Maintain facilities: ventilation, temperature control, cleaning, and organization between groups.
• Receive, count, sort, and manage pigs; communicate results to managers.
• Weigh animals and monitor health; coordinate with Staff Veterinarian as needed.
• Record keeping and data entry per trial protocols; operate automated feed delivery system.
• Troubleshoot alarms and respond to calls to maintain biosecurity and safety.
• Ensure PPE usage and train employees to maintain production standards.
