Swine Extension Program Associate

Join the North Carolina State University Department of Animal Science as a Swine Extension Program Associate, responsible for developing and delivering swine education opportunities across North Carolina and beyond.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with NCSU scientists to create and deliver swine educational programs.
• Organize, manage, and assist with the NCSU Swine Innovation Forum, NC Pork Conference, NC State Fair Swine Show, regional swine meetings, and electronic educational materials.
• Lead outreach, producer, and public communications, including newsletters, a swine extension website, and social media platforms.
• Generate and collate extension impact data and reports.
• Assist with the management of applied research projects on university and industry‑owned pig farms, including data collection, validation, summary, and dissemination of reports.
• Process daily requests for educational assistance from stakeholders and county staff.
• Use technology and web‑based data systems to complete work assignments.
• Maintain strong interpersonal communication skills.
• Complete daily work to meet established deadlines for swine research projects.
• Disseminate program information at the Swine Research Forum, NC Pork Conference, regional swine conferences, and the NC State Fair.
• Collect research data using the data management system and compile summary reports based on specific requests.
• Respond to faculty requests for factual information, providing verbal and written reports.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be from appropriately accredited institutions.
• Knowledge of pork quality assurance certification (preferred).
• Knowledge of the commercial pork industry (preferred).
• Experience in swine production and swine extension programs (preferred).
• A valid North Carolina driver’s license, obtained within 60 days of hire.
