Job summary

Pipestone is seeking an Animal Care Technician to join our swine production facility. You will work hands-on with pigs, supporting animal health, welfare, and daily operations in a modern setting. No prior experience required; training is provided.

Responsibilities

• Learn and monitor pig health and well-being while providing exceptional daily animal care.
• Ensure pigs have access to proper feed, fresh water, clear air, and a comfortable environment.
• Assist with breeding, gestation, farrowing, piglet care, and other swine production activities as needed
• Follow all production protocols to maximize sow and gilt production and efficiencies.
• Administer vaccinations, medications, and health treatments according to protocols.
• Monitor feed intake and adjust feeding programs as necessary.
• Observe animal behavior, report concerns promptly, and follow treatment protocols.
• Assist in farrowing and newborn piglet care, including feeding and processing.
• Assist in breeding activities, including artificial insemination and pregnancy checks.
• Operate and maintain equipment used in swine production.
• Maintain accurate records of animal health, treatments, and performance.
• Communicate effectively with employees and farm management.
• Follow animal welfare, biosecurity regulations, and company policies.
