Job summary

Pipestone is seeking an Animal Care Technician to work hands‑on with pigs in a modern swine production facility, supporting animal health, welfare, and daily farm operations.

No experience is required, training is provided. You will learn to monitor health, manage feeding, assist with breeding and farrowing, and follow safety and biosecurity protocols. We offer consistent schedules, paid overtime, and career growth in agriculture.

Responsibilities

• Learn and monitor pig health and well-being while providing exceptional daily animal care.
• Ensure pigs have access to proper feed, fresh water, clear air, and a comfortable environment.
• Assist with breeding, gestation, farrowing, piglet care, and other swine production activities as needed
• Follow all production protocols and procedures to maximize sow and gilt production & efficiencies.
• Administer vaccinations, medications, and health treatments according to protocols.
• Monitor feed intake and adjust feeding programs as necessary.
• Observe animal behavior, identify and report any concerns promptly, following proper protocols for treatment.
• Assist with farrowing (birthing) and newborn piglet care, including feeding and processing.
• Assist in breeding activities, including artificial insemination and pregnancy checks.
• Operate and maintain equipment used in swine production.
• Maintain accurate records of animal health, treatments, and performance promptly
• Communicate effectively with the employee and the farm management
• Follow animal welfare, biosecurity regulations, and company policies.
