Job summary

Pipestone is seeking an Animal Care Technician to join our swine production team in Indiana. You will care for pigs, monitor health and welfare, support breeding activities, and help maintain clean facilities while following all protocols and safety guidelines.

No prior experience is required; training is provided. You will work with a committed team, have opportunities for overtime pay, and contribute to animal health and production excellence in a hands‑on, long‑term agriculture career.

Qualifications

• Commitment to animal welfare, safety, and biosecurity.
• Working in a swine unit with exposure to loud noises, odors, and varying temperatures.
• Working with live animals in close quarters.

Responsibilities

• Learn and monitor pig health and well‑being while providing exceptional daily animal care.
• Ensure pigs have access to proper feed, fresh water, clear air, and a comfortable environment.
• Assist with breeding, gestation, farrowing, piglet care, and other swine production activities as needed.
• Follow production protocols to maximize sow and gilt production & efficiencies.
• Administer vaccinations, medications, and health treatments according to protocols.
• Monitor feed intake and adjust feeding programs as necessary.
• Observe animal behavior, identify and report concerns promptly, following proper protocols for treatment.
• Assist with farrowing and newborn piglet care, including feeding and processing.
• Assist in breeding activities, including artificial insemination and pregnancy checks.
• Operate and maintain equipment used in swine production.
• Maintain accurate records of animal health, treatments, and performance promptly.
• Communicate effectively with the employee and the farm management.
• Follow animal welfare, biosecurity regulations, and company policies.
