Job summary

Christensen Farms is seeking an Animal Care Technician to support Farrowing and Breeding, ensuring the health and welfare of the swine herd in a fast-paced barn environment.

Responsibilities include feeding, heat checks, piglet care, sanitation, sterilization, and accurate record-keeping, with emphasis on biosecurity and safety. The role starts at $20/hr with a comprehensive benefits package and a sign-on/retention bonus.

Qualifications

• Ability to follow established SOPs with attention to detail.
• Comfortable performing hands-on barn tasks in a fast-paced environment.
• Willingness to learn and follow biosecurity protocols.

Responsibilities

• Provide feed and water to animals daily to maintain health.
• Heat check/breed sows and perform gilt heat induction per protocol.
• Process piglets: castration, tail docking, iron/antibiotics.
• Assist farrowing with litter care and piglet warmth.
• Monitor health, provide treatments, and maintain records.
• Maintain sanitation, clean and disinfect, manage animal movements.
