Job summary

Christensen Farms is seeking an Animal Care Technician to support the Farrowing and Breeding departments. This hands-on role focuses on daily care, health, and wellbeing of the swine herd in a fast-paced barn environment.

The position emphasizes reliability, physical readiness, adherence to SOPs, and a strong commitment to biosecurity and safety, with opportunities for long-term growth in livestock production.

Qualifications

• Ability to follow established SOPs and biosecurity protocols.
• Willingness to perform physically demanding barn tasks daily.
• Reliability to show up consistently and on schedule.

Responsibilities

• Provide feed and water to animals daily to maintain health.
• Heat check and breed sows; perform gilt heat induction per protocols.
• Process piglets: castration, tail docking, iron/antibiotics.
• Assist farrowing and ensure piglet warmth and care.
• Monitor sows and litters; provide treatments and note health issues.
• Maintain sanitation and records; enforce biosecurity and safety.
