Job summary

YMCA of South Florida is seeking a part‑time Swim Coach to supervise practices, teach stroke analysis, and promote the swim team while ensuring safety for members and non‑members alike. You will support the Aquatics Director, coordinate with parents and staff, and help grow the program through recruitment and feeder initiatives.

You will also participate in meets and events, maintain high professional standards, and adhere to YMCA policies. Flexibility for evenings and weekends is expected.

Qualifications

• Strong leadership skills and the ability to discipline, counsel, and evaluate job performance.
• Ensure all members participate in high quality, mission driven programs in a safe aquatic environment.
• Computer literate; working knowledge of Microsoft Office, e‑mail and Internet.
• Ability to work independently and utilize initiative, organized and able to meet deadlines.
• Good judgment, strong communication, customer service skills, and professionalism.
• Ability to interact with members, parents, staff, management, and YMCA Board.
• Ability to handle stressful conditions, emergencies, and irregular hours.
• Support of YMCA mission and core values (caring, respect, honesty, responsibility).
• Coaching skills include stroke analysis, familiarity with coaching trends, video use, dry land training, swimmer motivation.

Responsibilities

• Supervise swim team practices and other groups as needed.
• Plan and supervise workouts; teach stroke analysis and techniques.
• Assist in implementing new competitive aquatics programs and recruit/retain participants.
• Promote the swim team and communicate with parents and other coaches about progress and events.
• Develop feeder programs and recruitment strategies for growth.
• Attend swim meets and assist with event preparation.
