Job summary

YMCA of Greater Seattle is seeking an on-site Swim Coach to lead age-group, senior, and masters programs, organizing team workouts and practices.

The role requires active lifeguard and swim instructor certifications, CPR/AED and First Aid, plus experience in coaching and teaching competitive swimming techniques. You will collaborate with families and staff and support a safe, inclusive program.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 16 years old.
• At least 1 year swim team experience preferred.
• Current lifeguard and swim instructor certifications.
• CPR/AED and First Aid certifications current.
• Administering Emergency Oxygen Certification current.
• American Red Cross Coaches Safety Training or equivalent.
• Ability to teach proper competitive swimming techniques.
• Knowledge of sound competitive swimming skills and the ability to teach them positively.

Responsibilities

• Performs assigned coaching responsibilities, which may include practices, recruiting, record‑keeping, and scheduling.
• Recruits prospective members and provides information about YMCA membership and swim team fee structure.
• Attends all staff meetings and trainings as required.
• Follows all YMCA policies, rules, regulations, and procedures, including emergency procedures. Completes incident and accident reports as necessary.
• Assists with overseeing conduct of swim team members at meets and other team functions.
• Attends swim meets and swim team functions as agreed upon with supervisor.
• Maintains effective communication with participants and their parents.
